Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories arrived on PlayStation 2 in 2006 after the PSP original. This page is the DualShock 2 pad, not the PSP shoulder buttons. PSP lists write L and R. On PS2 those shoulders are L1 and R1. If you copy a PSP screenshot onto a DualShock 2 and mash L2 by mistake, the sting will never play. The button strings below already use L1 and R1. Same combos, different shoulder names.
Enter codes during live gameplay with the D-pad. Do not pause. Some Liberty City Stories cheats cannot be toggled. That is not a rumor leftover from San Andreas riots; it is how this port behaves. Weapon sets here are eight buttons, not the twelve-button III / Vice City / San Andreas dumps. Cash exists: $250,000. Weapons, cash, health, and wanted
Set 1, set 2, and set 3 use the same compass shape and change only the face button that is doubled. Square is set 1, Circle is set 2, X is set 3. Cash, health, armor, and raise-wanted all start L1, R1 and then alternate a face button through another L1, R1 pair. Never wanted is the one that starts L1, L1, Triangle. It is also one of the flags you should not put on a completion save until you know whether your copy will let you turn it off.

Weapon set 1 is the early Toni kit: brass knuckles, chisel, pistol, shotgun, Mac-10, AK-47, sniper, rocket launcher, molotovs. Set 2 moves to knife, .357, stubby shotgun, Tec-9, M4, laser sniper, flamethrower, grenades. Set 3 is the closer: meat cleaver, Python, combat shotgun, MP5, M4, sniper, minigun, remote grenades. Entering a later set overwrites shared slots. Cross-game slot tables are on weapon sets. Health also tends to repair the vehicle you are in, which makes it the restock for a ruined Leone car when you do not want to spend the $250k sting.
Vehicles, traffic, and world flags
The Rhino is L1, L1, Left, L1, L1, Right, Triangle, Circle. That is a completely different muscle memory from GTA III. Destroy cars uses the same L1, L1, Left, L1, L1, Right opener and ends X, Square instead of Triangle, Circle, so do not mix the tails. Cars on water is the amphibious toy. Chrome, black, and white cars recolor newly generated traffic. Green lights help driving missions more than shootouts. Pedestrians follow is a novelty; it is still a world flag, so spare-slot it. Big head is on original LCS, unlike GTA III where Big Head is Definitive-only.

Rank the Rhino and destroy-cars against other toys on chaos cheats. Cash, health, armor, and weapon set 1 are the mission-friendly cluster if you only need a restock before a Leone mission.
Weather
Clear weather is the row most people want for helicopter camera shots over Staunton. The other paints use the same Up, Down, face-button, Up, Down, other-face-button, L1, R1 shape. They are safer than riots, but this port still has codes that will not toggle, so do not assume a second entry will restore a blue sky. If the sky sticks, reload the spare save.

PSP lists versus this DualShock 2 page
PSP Liberty City Stories uses L and R. PS2 uses L1 and R1. Do not translate a PSP L into an L2. The Stories games also inherited a reputation for one-way flags. Treat every new combo as one-way until you have tested a toggle on a throwaway slot. That is stricter than Vice City, where at least the weapon sets and health clearly restock.
