GTA PS2 Cheat Codes Weapon Set Cheats
Set 1, set 2, and set 3 DualShock 2 dumps compared across the five PlayStation 2 GTA discs.
Weapon cheats are the rows people actually restock. Tanks and jetpacks are toys. A weapon set is how you walk into a story mission with a shotgun instead of fists after a busted save. This page compares set 1, set 2, and set 3 across the PlayStation 2 Grand Theft Auto library and calls out the one disc that does not use three sets at all: GTA III dumps the 2001 arsenal in a single string.
Enter every combo during live gameplay with the D-pad. Do not pause. Analog-stick directions fail the sting. Entering a later set overwrites shared slots, so a minigun in set 3 will replace the rifle that was in that slot from set 1. If you only wanted brass knuckles, stop after set 1. Input timing is on how to enter cheats. Keep riot codes off the same session if this is a story slot; restocks are safe, world flags are not. See save-file warnings.
PC players type LXGIWYL, PROFESSIONALSKIT, and UZUMYMW in San Andreas, or GUNSGUNSGUNS in GTA III. Those words are not DualShock strings. The pad cousins are in the tables below. Compare input languages in PS2 vs PC codes. The cheat finder groups the same effect when you remember the gun but not the disc.
DualShock strings by game
GTA III starts R2, R2. Vice City and San Andreas start R1, R2, L1, R2 and then share a compass. Liberty City Stories uses doubled face buttons on a short compass. Vice City Stories uses Left, Right, face, Up, Down, face, Left, Right. Copying a San Andreas opener onto Portland is the most common miss.
| Game | Set | DualShock 2 buttons |
|---|---|---|
| GTA III | All weapons (only dump) | R2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up |
| Vice City | Set 1 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up |
| Vice City | Set 2 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Left |
| Vice City | Set 3 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Down |
| San Andreas | Set 1 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up |
| San Andreas | Set 2 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Left |
| San Andreas | Set 3 | R1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Down |
| Liberty City Stories | Set 1 | Up, Square, Square, Down, Left, Square, Square, Right |
| Liberty City Stories | Set 2 | Up, Circle, Circle, Down, Left, Circle, Circle, Right |
| Liberty City Stories | Set 3 | Up, X, X, Down, Left, X, X, Right |
| Vice City Stories | Set 1 | Left, Right, X, Up, Down, Square, Left, Right |
| Vice City Stories | Set 2 | Left, Right, Square, Up, Down, Triangle, Left, Right |
| Vice City Stories | Set 3 | Left, Right, Triangle, Up, Down, Circle, Left, Right |
Vice City and San Andreas share the three set shapes. The guns inside the slots do not match. A Vice City set 3 minigun is not a San Andreas set 3 chainsaw-and-grenade kit just because the last three buttons are Down, Down, Down. Always read the contents table for the disc in the tray.
What each set actually gives you
Use this as the loadout map. Names follow the in-game labels on each disc, not later remaster renames.
| Game | Set 1 | Set 2 | Set 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA III | One dump: bat, pistol, shotgun, Uzi, AK-47, M16, sniper, rocket launcher, flamethrower, molotovs | (none) | (none) |
| Vice City | Brass knuckles, bat, molotovs, Colt .45, shotgun, Tec-9, Ruger, sniper, flamethrower | Katana, remote grenades, Python, stubby shotgun, Mac-10, M4, PSG-1, rocket launcher | Chainsaw, grenades, Python, SPAS-12, MP5, M4, PSG-1, minigun |
| San Andreas | Brass knuckles, bat, 9mm, shotgun, Micro SMG, AK-47, country rifle, rocket launcher, molotovs, spray can | Knife, Desert Eagle, sawn-off, Tec-9, M4, sniper, flamethrower, satchels, fire extinguisher | Chainsaw, combat shotgun, SMG, M4, sniper, rocket launcher, flamethrower, grenades |
| Liberty City Stories | Brass knuckles, chisel, pistol, shotgun, Mac-10, AK-47, sniper, rocket launcher, molotovs | Knife, .357, stubby, Tec-9, M4, laser sniper, flamethrower, grenades | Meat cleaver, Python, combat shotgun, MP5, M4, sniper, minigun, remote grenades |
| Vice City Stories | Brass knuckles, nightstick, pistol, shotgun, Scorpion, AK-47, sniper, rocket launcher, molotovs | Butterfly knife, Equalizer, shorty, Micro SMG, assault rifle, laser sniper, flamethrower, grenades | Axe, Equalizer, SPAS-12, SMG, assault rifle, sniper, minigun, remote grenades |
Set 1 is the mission restock: a pistol, a shotgun, a cheap SMG, an AK, and thrown fire. Set 2 is the professional kit: better pistols, stubby or sawn-off shotguns, an M4 or AR, a sniper, and a flamethrower. Set 3 is the closer: chainsaw or heavy melee, combat shotgun, minigun where the disc has one, and grenades. If a story mission bans heavy weapons in a cutscene, set 1 is the row that will not brick the scene. Rank that split on mission-friendly versus chaos cheats.
Ammo, skill, and when not to restock
San Andreas is the only disc with a dedicated infinite-ammo combo (L1, R1, Square, R1, Left, R2, R1, Left, Square, Down, L1, L1) and a hitman-skill combo that dual-wields the guns that can dual-wield. Those rows live on San Andreas. Re-entering a weapon set on GTA III refills ammo. Re-entering set 3 on Vice City replaces the slot contents again; it is a refill if you already wanted set 3.
Do not restock in the middle of a weapon-specific mission if the script expects a melee-only bust or a sniper set-piece. Do not restock on the same save as a riot. The guns are fine; the city flag is not. Vice City still has no cash sting to buy ammo the honest way, which is why set 1 is the 1986 restock and why fake money lists get written. Keep those fakes on fake codes.
There is no weapon set that spawns a jetpack, a Hydra, or a Rhino. Those are vehicle rows on the game pages. The jetpack remains San Andreas only; see how to get the jetpack. Tanks are compared in how to spawn a tank. If a weapons list quietly adds a tank to set 3, it is mixing pages.
Which page to open after this one
If the disc in the tray is San Andreas, take the twelve-button R1, R2, L1, R2 strings and the infinite-ammo row from San Andreas. If it is 2002 Vice City, use the same set shapes but the Vice City contents, and do not look for a money cheat, on Vice City. If it is 2001 Liberty, there is only one dump, and it starts R2, R2, on GTA III. Stories ports use the short eight-button rows on Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. The atlas is the codes hub. Controls for the D-pad versus analog stick are on controls.
Weapon sets are the honest restock in a library full of riot flags and fake cash. Pick the disc, pick the tier, enter it in live play, and leave set 3 off the mission that still wants a pistol. That is the whole comparison. Everything else is a tank, a jetpack, or a lie from another platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.
Does GTA III have weapon set 1, 2, and 3?
No. Original PS2 GTA III has one all-weapons dump that starts R2, R2, L1, R2. Three-set rows start in Vice City. See GTA III and this weapon sets table.
Do Vice City and San Andreas use the same weapon buttons?
The three set shapes match. The guns inside the slots do not. Always read the contents table for the disc in the tray. Full strings are on Vice City and San Andreas.
Which set should I use on a story save?
Set 1 is the restock that rarely breaks a scripted mission. Set 3 is the closer. Rank them on mission-friendly. Keep riots off that same save; see save-file warnings.
Is there infinite ammo on every PS2 GTA?
No. San Andreas has a dedicated infinite-ammo combo. Other discs refill by re-entering the weapon string. The San Andreas row is on San Andreas.
Can I type PROFESSIONALSKIT on a PS2 pad?
No. That is a PC word. DualShock 2 uses button strings. Compare the two languages in PS2 vs PC codes.
Does a weapon set spawn a tank or a jetpack?
No. Tanks are vehicle spawns and the jetpack is San Andreas only. Use how to spawn a tank and how to get the jetpack.
