GTA PS2 Wanted Level Cheats

People search “anti police” when they want the stars gone. On original PlayStation 2 Grand Theft Auto discs that intent is a DualShock 2 wanted-clear, not a typed PC word and not a hidden cop-off menu. This page is the wanted atlas for GTA III (2001), Vice City (2002), San Andreas (2004), Liberty City Stories (2006 on PS2), and Vice City Stories (2007 on PS2). Story campaigns are single-player. There is no shared wanted listener.

Enter every combo in live play with the D-pad. Do not pause. Analog Up is not a digital Up. If the sting never plays, fix the method on how to enter cheats before you invent extra Circles. PC lists print AEZAKMI for never wanted and BRINGITON for a wanted raise. Those words do nothing on a DualShock 2. If a collage mixes BRINGITON into a pad table, throw it at fake codes and come back here.

A one-step clear is usually mission-friendly. A six-star dump is not. Rank the military response with chaos cheats and keep it off the file that still has story beats.

San Andreas and Vice City: shared clear and raise

Vice City (2002) and San Andreas (2004) share the lower-wanted and raise-wanted shapes. The opener is R1, R1, Circle, R2. The compass tail decides the effect.

Clear wanted (SA and VC): R1, R1, Circle, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down

Raise wanted by two stars (SA and VC): R1, R1, Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right

Clear drops the meter to zero for the current chase. Raise adds two stars, up to the game’s current cap. These are the strings people mean by anti-police and “more cops.” They are not god mode. They do not refill health. Restock the red and blue bars on health and money if a shootout already chewed the HUD.

Vice City has no separate six-star combo and no never-wanted lock on the original disc. If a Vice City table shows those San Andreas extras, it mixed discs. Full Vice City rows sit on Vice City codes. San Andreas extras are below and on San Andreas codes.

San Andreas six-star and never-wanted

San Andreas is the disc with a dedicated six-star dump and a never-wanted lock.

Six-star wanted: Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square, X, Down

Never-wanted: Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square, Triangle, Up

Never-wanted will not clear stars you already have. If the HUD is already hot, run the shared clear (R1, R1, Circle, R2, then Up, Down repeats) first, then enter never-wanted so new crimes do not rebuild the meter. Mixing those two tails is how people think the lock is broken. The six-star string and the lock share a Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square prefix; the last two buttons are the fork. X, Down is war. Triangle, Up is the lock.

Six-star is a military response: army, Rhino traffic, and a city that no longer behaves like a stealth graph. Do not save six-star on a story file. Escorts fail. Unique jumps get silly. Interior missions hate a tank on the doorstep. Copy the campaign to a spare memory-card slot, dump stars on the copy, and reload the clean slot when you are done. Save-file warnings is the slot recipe. Original PS2 hardware has no trophies; the Definitive Edition will still lock trophies on a cheated save.

If you spawned a Rhino, Hydra, or Hunter and the meter exploded, that is expected. Clear on the same disc, or dump the hull and hide. Weapon sets on weapon sets do not shave stars.

GTA III: R2, R2 openers and island caps

GTA III does not use the Vice City / San Andreas R1, R1 opener. Several player cheats start R2, R2. Bring the later opener onto Portland and the 2001 disc will ignore you.

Clear wanted (III): R2, R2, L1, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down

Raise wanted (III): R2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right

Raise still adds two stars, but it will not break the current island maximum. Wanted caps change as the story unlocks bridges:

  • Portland tops out lower. You will not get a full six-star military parade just because you mashed raise on the first island.
  • Staunton Vale raises the cap once you can cross.
  • Shoreside Vale is the island that can show the full six-star military response after the story allows it.

That is why a Portland sandbox feels quieter than a Shoreside one with the same combo. It is not a broken code. Full III tables, including the six-Circle Rhino, sit on GTA III codes. Flying cars (Right, R2, Circle, R1, L2, Down, L1, R1) will also draw heat if you clip a chopper; that toggle is chaos, not a wanted tool.

Liberty City Stories

The 2006 PlayStation 2 port uses short L1 / R1 strings. PSP lists write L and R; this wiki already uses L1 and R1. Some LCS flags cannot toggle, so treat a new wanted lock as one-way until you have tested it on a throwaway slot.

Never wanted (LCS): L1, L1, Triangle, R1, R1, X, Square, Circle

Raise wanted (LCS): L1, R1, Square, L1, R1, Triangle, L1, R1

LCS prefers a never-wanted lock rather than a one-star shave. Use the lock when you are grinding collectibles. Use raise when you want a sandbox fight. Do not put the lock on a completion save until you know whether your copy will let you turn it off. Cash, health, and armor on this disc are separate L1, R1 rows; see Liberty City Stories codes and the health and money guide if you only needed a restock.

Vice City Stories

The 2007 PlayStation 2 port uses D-pad rhythms that look nothing like 2002 Vice City. PSP multiplayer percentage unlocks are not PS2 story cheats and they are not wanted strings.

Never wanted (VCS): Up, Right, Triangle, Triangle, Down, Left, X, X

Raise wanted (VCS): Up, Right, Square, Square, Down, Left, Circle, Circle

The two strings share an Up, Right opener and a Down, Left middle. Doubled Triangle then X, X is the lock. Doubled Square then Circle, Circle is the raise. Copying the 2002 R1, R1, Circle, R2 clear onto Vic Vance will do nothing. Open Vice City Stories codes for the rest of that pad, including the eight-button Rhino if you meant to start a fight on purpose.

What anti-police is not

Anti-police is not invincibility. Vice City still has no god mode and no money cheat on original PS2. A clear only empties stars. Bullets still hurt. A six-star military response is the opposite of stealth: army, tanks, and a city that hunts you. “Never wanted” is a lock against new stars, not a heal and not a riot off-switch.

Do not save six-star on a story file. Do not save a never-wanted lock on a mission that requires stars, such as a rampage-style beat or a vigilante chain you still intend to finish honestly. Copy first. Cheat on the copy. Reload the clean slot. DualShock 2 controls helps if Start (pause, then a panicked save) is how you keep writing heat onto Slot A.

If you came here because a tank or Hydra painted the HUD, clear on the matching disc, then decide whether the hull is still worth it. The cheat finder groups the same wanted effect across games when the effect actually exists. The codes hub is the per-disc atlas. The guides hub is the method layer. Platform mixing, including BRINGITON on a pad photo, is PS2 vs PC codes.

Stars are a session tool. A clear is a retry. A raise is a sandbox. Six-star is a military joke you play on a spare file. Never-wanted is a lock that still needs a clear if you are already hot. Treat them that way across the 2001–2007 PlayStation 2 library and the HUD stays a choice instead of a save-file stain.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.

What does an anti-police GTA PS2 cheat actually do?

It is a DualShock 2 wanted-clear, not invincibility. San Andreas and Vice City share R1, R1, Circle, R2, then Up, Down repeats. GTA III starts R2, R2. See this wanted level page and the codes hub.

Why did San Andreas never-wanted leave my stars on the HUD?

Never-wanted does not clear stars you already have. Run the shared clear first, then enter Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square, Triangle, Up. Full San Andreas rows are on San Andreas codes.

Can I get six stars on GTA III’s first island?

Portland caps lower. Staunton raises the cap. Shoreside Vale is where the full six-star military response can appear as the story unlocks. Raise-wanted will not break the current island maximum. Details sit on GTA III codes.

Should I save after a six-star cheat?

Not on a story slot. Six-star is a military response that wrecks escorts and interiors. Copy the campaign first as save-file warnings describes, and keep the war on the spare file.

Can I type BRINGITON or AEZAKMI on a DualShock 2?

No. Those are PC keyboard words for raise wanted and never wanted. Pad versions are the button strings on this page. Mixed lists belong on fake codes and PS2 vs PC codes.

A tank or Hydra just maxed my stars. What now?

Use the clear combo for the disc in the tray, or dump the hull and hide. Spawns are on vehicle cheats and how to spawn a tank. Weapon sets do not shave stars.
