How to enter DualShock 2 codes, spawn a Rhino, grab the San Andreas jetpack, and keep a story file intact.

Guides Hub

This hub is the how-to layer for the PlayStation 2 Grand Theft Auto library. The codes hub stores button lists. These pages tell you when a list will fail in your hands: analog stick instead of D-pad, the pause-menu myth, a tank that never appears because you are standing in an alley, a jetpack typed as ROCKETMAN on a console that has no keyboard, or a 100% file overwritten after a riot cheat.

The five story campaigns this wiki covers are single-player discs released between 2001 and 2007: Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Vice City (2002), San Andreas (2004), Liberty City Stories (2006 on PS2), and Vice City Stories (2007 on PS2). Codes never cross discs. A Vice City health combo will not refill CJ, and a San Andreas jetpack sequence does nothing on Tommy Vercetti.

How to enter DualShock 2 cheats

If a magazine combo “does nothing,” start with how to enter cheats. Original PS2 builds listen during live play, not on the pause screen. Use the D-pad for every Up, Down, Left, and Right. Wait for the confirmation sting or the “Cheat activated” line. If you mash the left analog stick through a directional sequence, the listener never sees digital compass taps and the buffer dies.

Read DualShock 2 controls next if you keep injecting extra buttons. Circle is fire on foot, X is sprint, Triangle enters and exits vehicles, and R1 aims. Accidental L3 crouches in San Andreas and accidental Start opens the pause map. Either one poisons a long combo such as a weapon set.

Clear wanted stars and restock health

Police heat is the other high-search DualShock 2 problem. Wanted level cheats cover clear, raise, six-star, and never-wanted strings, plus GTA III island caps. Health and money cheats cover the San Andreas $250,000 refill, Vice City’s separate health and armor codes, and why “immune blood” is not a god-mode toggle on original PS2.

Spawn a Rhino tank

Want a tank, not exploding traffic? Open how to spawn a tank. GTA III uses a six-Circle opener. Vice City and San Andreas share a different Rhino sequence. Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories each have their own short combos. Stand in an open street so the game can park the hull on a valid vehicle node. Expect wanted stars. Do not confuse magazine names such as “Vehicle of Death” with an actual Rhino drop: those codes wreck nearby cars or turn traffic hostile.

After the spawn, leave the rampage on a spare save. A tank in the wrong mission can stall escorts, unique jumps, and 100% checklists. The chaos cheats tier ranks which vehicle toys are fun and which ones wreck pacing.

Get the San Andreas jetpack

The jetpack exists only in San Andreas. There is no DualShock 2 jetpack in GTA III, Vice City, Liberty City Stories, or Vice City Stories. How to get the jetpack covers the PlayStation combo printed on GTAbase (Up, Down, Left, Right, then shoulders, then the compass again), the shorter original-PS2 print that starts Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, and the magazine versions that double the shoulder block. Those longer prints still fire because the real sequence sits inside the input buffer.

Do not type ROCKETMAN on a DualShock 2. That word is a PC keyboard cheat. Story players can still steal the pack during Black Project at Area 69 and later find one at Verdant Meadows; the cheat is simply faster. Triangle dismounts. You cannot walk into interiors while wearing it.

Protect the save file

Riot and “pedestrians attack you” codes often stay on until you reload a file that never saw them. Original PlayStation 2 hardware has no trophies, but a cheated file can still ruin 100% pacing, stat tracking, and mission logic. The Definitive Edition on later hardware does lock trophies on a cheated save. Follow save-file warnings and keep a clean story slot on the memory card before you experiment.

If you only want help without world chaos, use the mission-friendly tier and the weapon sets instead of pedestrian mayhem.

PS2 buttons versus PC words

PC lists tell you to type HESOYAM, AEZAKMI, BAGUVIX, PROFESSIONALSKIT, or ROCKETMAN. Those strings do nothing on an original DualShock 2. PS2 vs PC codes maps button combos to those words, notes which original San Andreas effects The Definitive Edition removed (infinite health, never hungry, adrenaline, invisible cars, free aim in cars, floating cars, always midnight), and flags Big Head Mode (Konami plus Circle, X) as a remaster extra that is not on original PS2. PS3 ports also invert L1/L2 and R1/R2, so a copied PS3 list will fail on a fat PS2.

If a blog promises a Vice City money drop or god mode on PS2, it is mixing discs or keyboard words. Vice City’s original PlayStation 2 build has health and armor codes, not cash and not invincibility. Check fake codes before you waste a buffer on a phantom sequence.

Pick the disc, then the list

Use the per-game pages when you already know the method and only need the buttons:

The cheat finder is useful when you remember an effect (“tank,” “weapons,” “sunny”) but not which disc it belongs to. The tier list hub ranks what is actually useful versus what is a one-time joke. Official story and product pages live on the Rockstar Grand Theft Auto site; this wiki is a fan DualShock 2 reference.

A sensible first session

Copy your story file to a second in-game slot, or to a second memory card. Open how to enter cheats and run one harmless weather or health combo until the sting plays. Then grab a weapon set. Only after that should you spawn a Rhino or, on San Andreas, the jetpack. If the world turns into a riot, reload the clean slot instead of saving over it. That loop is the whole point of this hub: the button list is useless until the DualShock 2, the disc, and the save slot are under control.

When you are ready for a full sandbox, keep this hub bookmarked, jump to the codes hub for the disc in the tray, and use the tools hub if you need to search by effect instead of scrolling a long table.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.

Which guide should I open first on GTA PS2?

If combos fail, start with how to enter cheats and DualShock 2 controls. If the combo works and you want a specific toy, use the tank or jetpack pages, then the codes hub for the rest of that disc.

Can I use San Andreas cheats in Vice City?

No. Each disc has its own listener. Vice City on PS2 also has no money cheat and no god mode, so lists that promise both are mixing San Andreas codes or PC words. See fake codes.

Is the jetpack in every GTA on PS2?

No. The jetpack is a San Andreas item. Use how to get the jetpack. For flying in other games you are looking at flying-car cheats or story vehicles, not a pack on your back.

Should I save after cheating?

Keep a clean story slot. Riot and attack codes often cannot be toggled off. Read save-file warnings before you overwrite the file you care about.

Why does a PC article tell me to type HESOYAM?

That is a keyboard word for the PC build. Original PS2 uses shoulder and face buttons. Compare them in PS2 vs PC codes and enter the DualShock 2 version from the matching game page.

Where do I find every button list?

The codes hub links GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and weapon sets. This Guides Hub only teaches the method.
