GTA PS2 Cheat Codes Find a DualShock 2 combo by effect

Pick the result you want, then read one cell per PlayStation 2 GTA. Empty cells stay empty.

Cheat Finder

This finder is the effect-first index for original PlayStation 2 discs. You choose health, armor, money, a weapon set, wanted stars, a Rhino, a jetpack, or flying cars. Each table has a column for GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, and Vice City Stories. If a game never shipped the effect, the cell says so. It does not invent a combo to look complete.

The finder is a crosswalk, not a trainer and not Action Replay hex. Full gun names, weather lists, and pedestrian toys still live on the codes hub. After you copy a string, enter it in live play with the D-pad. How to enter cheats covers speed and the confirmation sting. If a row looks too good to be true, run it through fake codes before you mash buttons on a story save.

Use mission-friendly cheats when you still need the campaign. Use chaos cheats when you do not. The tools hub explains what this page is not.

How to read the tables

  • Buttons are DualShock 2 labels: D-pad directions, face buttons, L1, L2, R1, R2.
  • “None” means the original PS2 build has no built-in pad combo for that effect.
  • San Andreas health, armor, and money share one string. The three rows repeat it on purpose so you do not go hunting for a missing armor-only code.
  • GTA III has a single weapon dump. Weapon set 2 and set 3 are none on that disc.
  • Jetpack is San Andreas only.
  • Vice City has no money cheat and no invincibility cheat.
  • Liberty City Stories on PS2 uses L1 and R1, not L2 and R2, for almost every code.

Copy the cell, then open the game page to see neighboring effects and warnings. A Rhino still needs space to land; how to spawn a tank shows why. The jetpack still needs sky; how to get the jetpack is San Andreas-only on purpose.

Health

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, R1, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
Vice CityR1, R2, L1, Circle, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
San AndreasR1, R2, L1, X, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up (also fills armor and adds $250,000)
Liberty City StoriesL1, R1, X, L1, R1, Square, L1, R1
Vice City StoriesUp, Down, Left, Right, Circle, Circle, L1, R1

San Andreas also has a near-infinite health string that is easy to confuse with god mode. This finder lists the refill. The near-infinite version is a trophy and mission risk; keep it off a story slot. Vice City health is a refill only. There is no PS2 invincibility combo for Tommy.

Armor

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, L2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
Vice CityR1, R2, L1, X, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
San AndreasSame as health and money: R1, R2, L1, X, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
Liberty City StoriesL1, R1, Circle, L1, R1, X, L1, R1
Vice City StoriesUp, Down, Left, Right, Square, Square, L1, R1

Vice City armor is not a money cheat. The fourth button is X, while health uses Circle. Swapping them is the usual reason a “Vice City cash” list appears to “work” — you filled a bar and thought the wallet moved.

Money

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, L1, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up ($250,000)
Vice CityNone (Vice City has no money cheat)
San AndreasR1, R2, L1, X, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up ($250,000 plus health and armor)
Liberty City StoriesL1, R1, Triangle, L1, R1, Circle, L1, R1 ($250,000)
Vice City StoriesUp, Down, Left, Right, X, X, L1, R1 ($250,000)

If a screenshot shows HESOYAM next to a DualShock 2, that is the PC word for the San Andreas row. You cannot type it on a PS2 pad. See PS2 vs PC codes.

Weapon set 1

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up (only weapon dump)
Vice CityR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
San AndreasR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
Liberty City StoriesUp, Square, Square, Down, Left, Square, Square, Right
Vice City StoriesLeft, Right, X, Up, Down, Square, Left, Right

Gun contents differ by game. Use the weapons page when you need the actual list rather than “set 1.”

Weapon set 2

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIINone (GTA III has one weapon set)
Vice CityR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Left
San AndreasR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Left
Liberty City StoriesUp, Circle, Circle, Down, Left, Circle, Circle, Right
Vice City StoriesLeft, Right, Square, Up, Down, Triangle, Left, Right

Weapon set 3

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIINone (GTA III has one weapon set)
Vice CityR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Down
San AndreasR1, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Down, Down
Liberty City StoriesUp, X, X, Down, Left, X, X, Right
Vice City StoriesLeft, Right, Triangle, Up, Down, Circle, Left, Right

San Andreas infinite ammo is a separate code: L1, R1, Square, R1, Left, R2, R1, Left, Square, Down, L1, L1. III, Vice City, and the Stories games do not ship that as a built-in pad combo (Liberty City Stories can unlock infinite ammo at 100 percent, which is not a DualShock string).

Clear wanted

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down
Vice CityR1, R1, Circle, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down
San AndreasR1, R1, Circle, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down
Liberty City StoriesL1, L1, Triangle, R1, R1, X, Square, Circle (never-wanted lock)
Vice City StoriesUp, Right, Triangle, Triangle, Down, Left, X, X (never-wanted lock)

Stories games prefer a lock over a one-star shave. San Andreas also has a never-wanted lock: Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square, Triangle, Up.

Raise wanted

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIR2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
Vice CityR1, R1, Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
San AndreasR1, R1, Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
Liberty City StoriesL1, R1, Square, L1, R1, Triangle, L1, R1
Vice City StoriesUp, Right, Square, Square, Down, Left, Circle, Circle

Vice City and San Andreas share the same raise-wanted tail (Left, Right repeated). GTA III uses the same compass tail after an R2, R2 opener. Repeat the code to climb toward six stars, then treat that file as chaos.

Rhino tank

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIICircle, Circle, Circle, Circle, Circle, Circle, R1, L2, L1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle
Vice CityCircle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle
San AndreasCircle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle
Liberty City StoriesL1, L1, Left, L1, L1, Right, Triangle, Circle
Vice City StoriesUp, L1, Down, R1, Left, L1, Right, R1

Stand in a street, not a closet interior. The III string is not the Vice City string. After it spawns, how to spawn a tank covers cannon controls and why a Rhino fails escort missions.

Jetpack

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIINone (San Andreas only)
Vice CityNone (San Andreas only)
San AndreasLeft, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right
Liberty City StoriesNone (San Andreas only)
Vice City StoriesNone (San Andreas only)

There is no built-in jetpack in 2001 Liberty City or 1980s Vice City. Lists that paste the San Andreas string onto those discs are fake codes. Steps and landing advice: how to get the jetpack.

Flying cars

GameDualShock 2 combo
GTA IIIRight, R2, Circle, R1, L2, Down, L1, R1
Vice CityRight, R2, Circle, R1, L2, Down, L1, R1
San AndreasSquare, Down, L2, Up, L1, Circle, Up, X, Left
Liberty City StoriesNone (drive-on-water exists instead: Circle, X, Down, Circle, X, Up, L1, L1)
Vice City StoriesNone (Vice City Stories has no flying-car pad cheat)

Flying cars are a chaos toy. They break mission checkpoints. Keep them off the file described in save-file warnings. Liberty City Stories drive-on-water is a different effect; do not list it as flying cars.

After you copy a cell

Open the matching game page from the codes hub and read the warnings under that effect. Rank it on the tier list. If you arrived here from a social-media collage, check fake codes for HESOYAM, immune-blood labels, and hex dumps. Then enter the combo once on a spare slot. If nothing happens, you used the analog stick, paused the game, or copied a neighbor cell. The finder already told you when the neighbor cell was none.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.

Why are some finder cells marked none?

The original PlayStation 2 build never shipped that effect as a pad combo. Vice City has no money cheat. Only San Andreas has a jetpack. GTA III has one weapon set. Filling those blanks would be a fake list.

Is the San Andreas health code also money?

Yes. One DualShock 2 string restores health, fills armor, and adds $250,000. There is no separate PS2 cash-only combo for CJ. The PC word for the same effect is HESOYAM, which you do not type on a pad.

Can I enter these codes on a PC keyboard?

Not as printed. PC builds use words. PlayStation pads use buttons. Compare them in PS2 vs PC codes instead of mixing columns.

Where is the full weapon list for each set?

On the weapons page and on each game page from the codes hub. This finder only stores the DualShock 2 string.

Does the finder include Action Replay codes?

No. Hex master codes are out of scope. The tools hub and fake codes pages say the same thing: built-in combos only.

What should I do after I find the Rhino or jetpack row?

Use how to spawn a tank or how to get the jetpack for spawn space, then keep those toys off a story file if the next mission needs a specific vehicle.
