GTA PS2 Cheat Codes Five PlayStation 2 GTA games, five cheat lists

III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, and Vice City Stories — original discs, DualShock 2 codes, unofficial wiki.

GTA PS2 Games Hub

PlayStation 2 is the home console that carried the 3D Grand Theft Auto years from 2001 through 2007. This unofficial fan wiki is the DualShock 2 code book for that lineup. It is not a Rockstar product. For official story and product pages, use the Rockstar Grand Theft Auto site.

The five games below all have single-player stories on PS2. Codes do not cross discs. A San Andreas jetpack string will not spawn anything in Portland Harbor. A Vice City health refill will not add cash. Start with the codes hub, then open the page that matches the boot screen in front of you.

Liberty City Stories first appeared on PSP in 2005 and arrived on PlayStation 2 in 2006. Vice City Stories first appeared on PSP in 2006 and arrived on PlayStation 2 in 2007. This wiki documents the PS2 DualShock 2 strings. PSP uses L and R where PS2 uses L1 and R1; do not mix those labels when you are holding a DualShock 2.

Grand Theft Auto III (2001)

GTA III is the 2001 Liberty City reboot that made the 3D sandbox a console phenomenon. Rockstar North built it. Claude’s story is a silent, single-player campaign across Portland, Staunton, and Shoreside Vale. Cheat-wise it is the smallest of the five lists and the one people still mis-copy because later games reused the idea of the codes with different shoulders.

Expect health, armor, $250,000, one all-weapons dump, wanted up and down, a Rhino that starts with six Circles, flying cars, weather, and riot/attack toys. There is no jetpack. There is no three-tier weapon menu. There is no infinite-ammo pad combo. Open GTA III codes and ignore any collage that starts the tank string with L1 the way Vice City does.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002)

Vice City is Rockstar North’s 1986 follow-up, released on PS2 in 2002. Tommy Vercetti’s story is still a single-player campaign. The DualShock 2 list grew: three weapon sets, separate health and armor strings, a Rhino that now shares its shape with San Andreas, flying cars, and a pedestrians-attack combo that cannot be disabled.

What it does not have is as important as what it does. Original PlayStation 2 Vice City has no money cheat and no invincibility cheat. If a page promises millions of dollars or god mode on that disc, it is mixing San Andreas, GTA III, PC words, or Action Replay hex. Decode it on fake codes. Real buttons live on Vice City codes.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)

San Andreas is the 2004 Rockstar North epic and the reason most people search “GTA PS2 cheats” at all. CJ’s single-player story spans Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas, and countryside in between. The DualShock 2 list is huge: the health-armor-$250,000 combo, three weapon sets, infinite ammo, Hitman skills, never hungry, never wanted, a jetpack, a Hydra, a Hunter, chaos mode, beach party, Elvis, and more.

The jetpack is the line in the sand. It exists here and not in the other four PS2 games on this hub. Use how to get the jetpack and San Andreas codes. The official trailer below is the 2004 pitch for that map, not a later remaster.

Liberty City Stories (PS2, 2006)

Liberty City Stories is the 1998 prequel to GTA III. Rockstar Leeds developed it with Rockstar North. The PSP original shipped in 2005; the PlayStation 2 version followed in 2006. Toni Cipriani’s campaign is a single-player story on a rearranged Liberty City. Cheat strings are short and almost entirely L1/R1 plus face buttons. There is cash, health, armor, three weapon sets, a Rhino, never wanted, riot, and drive-on-water. There is no jetpack and no flying-car pad code in the III/Vice City sense.

Do not enter a 2001 GTA III R2, R2 opener on this disc. Open Liberty City Stories codes. Infinite ammo can appear as a 100 percent unlock, which is not the same as San Andreas’s pad combo.

Vice City Stories (PS2, 2007)

Vice City Stories is the 1984 prequel to Vice City, again from Rockstar Leeds with Rockstar North. PSP in 2006, PlayStation 2 in 2007. Vic Vance’s campaign is a single-player story. DualShock 2 codes use D-pad frames with L1 and R1: health, armor, $250,000, three weapon sets, never wanted, a Rhino, riot, and attack. There is no jetpack. There is no flying-car pad cheat. There is money, unlike 2002 Vice City, because this is a different game.

That last point feeds a lot of fake lists. A 2007 Stories cash code is not a 2002 Vice City cash code. Keep them on separate pages: Vice City Stories codes versus Vice City codes.

Original PS2 discs versus later ports

This wiki is written for original PlayStation 2 hardware and DualShock 2 input. Later collections and The Definitive Edition are different products. Some original effects were removed. Trophy systems can treat any cheat as a lock. PC builds type words such as HESOYAM instead of pressing R1, R2, L1, X. A combo that works on a 2004 disc may be missing on a 2020s store page. Compare input in PS2 vs PC codes and do not assume a remaster is “the PS2 game with nicer trees.”

Original discs still need the same hygiene the rest of the wiki repeats: copy the story save, enter codes in live play, use the D-pad, and keep riot/attack off the file you care about. How to enter cheats, controls, and save-file warnings are the mechanical trio. The tier list ranks what is useful. The cheat finder lines the same effect up across all five games.

How to pick a page tonight

This Games hub will not pretend the five stories share a cheat book. It will send you to the list that matches the year on the spine, then leave you with a DualShock 2 and a second memory-card slot. That is the entire point of an unofficial PS2 code wiki.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.

Which GTA games does this PS2 wiki cover?

Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Vice City (2002), San Andreas (2004), Liberty City Stories (PS2 2006), and Vice City Stories (PS2 2007). Open the matching page from the codes hub.

Who developed the Stories games?

Rockstar Leeds with Rockstar North. III, Vice City, and San Andreas are Rockstar North. All five were published by Rockstar Games.

Is The Definitive Edition the same as the PS2 discs?

No. It is a later port with different presentation, trophy rules, and a trimmed cheat list. This wiki documents original DualShock 2 strings. See PS2 vs PC codes.

Is this an official Rockstar wiki?

No. It is a fan-made DualShock 2 reference. Confirm products and trailers on the [Rockstar Grand Theft Auto site](https://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto).

Does every game here have a jetpack cheat?

No. Only San Andreas. Use how to get the jetpack on that disc and ignore lists that paste the string onto III or Vice City.

Where should I go if I only remember the effect I want?

The cheat finder groups health, weapons, wanted stars, the Rhino, and the jetpack by game, and leaves a cell empty when the disc never shipped that effect.
