GTA PS2 Cheat Codes San Andreas Jetpack on PS2
DualShock 2 combos, the ROCKETMAN warning, Area 69’s Black Project, and why the pack will not go indoors.
The jetpack is a San Andreas toy. It does not exist as a DualShock 2 cheat in GTA III, Vice City, Liberty City Stories, or Vice City Stories. If those discs are in the tray, stop. You want flying-car toggles, story aircraft, or a Rhino tank, not a pack on CJ’s back.
On San Andreas, you can cheat the pack instantly or steal it during the story. The cheat is faster. The story unlock is cleaner for a 100% file. Either way, enter button codes in live play with the D-pad as described in how to enter cheats. Do not type on a keyboard that is not plugged into this console.
PlayStation combo used on GTAbase
Up, Down, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right
This is the twelve-step DualShock 2 sequence most modern PlayStation tables reprint. Compass taps are D-pad. Shoulders are four distinct clicks in the middle. If the analog stick wanders during the two compass runs, the buffer never matches.
Stand on open ground. The pack appears on CJ; you do not walk to a pickup. When the sting plays, you should already be wearing it. If you only heard the sting and you are still on foot, you may have fired a nearby sequence (parachute is a cousin that also uses Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2). Check the San Andreas codes table and run this one again from the first Up.
Alternate original-PS2 print
Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right
Early print guides often listed this ten-step version that skips the opening Up, Down. It is the sequence many original manuals and magazine pull-outs used. On a real PS2 buffer it still produces the pack, because the engine is matching a button trail, not a branded URL.
If GTAbase’s twelve-step feels long, use this shorter print. Do not mix them mid-combo. Pick one order, tap it cleanly, and wait for the sting.
Magazine doubles of L1 L2 R1 R2
Some 2004–2005 magazine scans doubled the shoulder block:
L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right
That sixteen-step version looks wrong next to the ten-step original, and it still often works. The cheat listener keeps a rolling window. If the real sequence is sitting inside the longer mash, the window lights up when the tail matches. Players who “always used the doubled one” were not magically on a different SKU. They were feeding a superset that still contained the real code.
The doubled print is also how extra L1 taps sneak in and accidentally fire a different spawn. If you get a parachute, a hydra, or nothing, shorten to the GTAbase twelve or the original ten and stop improvising shoulders.
ROCKETMAN is a PC word
PC San Andreas types ROCKETMAN (and some builds also accept YECGAA). That string is for a keyboard during live play on Windows. It is not a DualShock 2 combo. There is no on-screen keyboard on original PS2 San Andreas. Do not pause and do not mash face buttons as if they were letters. If a YouTube overlay shows ROCKETMAN across a controller, that creator is on PC or is mixing lists. Translate the effect on PS2 vs PC codes and use the button sequence on this page.
PROFESSIONALSKIT, HESOYAM, and BAGUVIX are the same class of problem: useful PC words, useless on a pad. Weapon sets on PS2 are shoulder-and-compass sequences listed on weapon sets.
Story unlock: Black Project at Area 69
If you want the pack without a cheat flag on the file, play the story until Black Project. CJ infiltrates Area 69 and extracts the military jetpack. After that mission, a jetpack becomes available as a pickup at the Verdant Meadows airstrip and in other story-gated spots. That is the legitimate route. It is slower than a twelve-button sting and it keeps a 100% file cleaner.
The cheat skips the stealth, the base, and the wait. Use it on a sandbox slot. The story pickup is the one you want on the file that still cares about stats. Save-file warnings explains why a cheated San Andreas save can still hurt pacing even though original PS2 hardware has no trophies. The Definitive Edition will additionally lock trophies if you cheat on that later port.
Flying, dismounting, interiors
Triangle dismounts. The pack drops as a pickup; walk into it to wear it again. X boosts. L2 and R2 strafe. You can fire a short list of guns while flying (pistol, Tec-9, Micro SMG, sawn-off). You cannot enter interiors while wearing the pack. Safehouses, shops, and mission doorways will ignore you until you press Triangle and step inside on foot.
You also cannot save while the pack is on. Dismount, walk into the save interior, then cheat the pack again after you leave if you insist on flying from the door. That limitation is why the cheat is a travel tool, not a new wardrobe.
Do not try to board a Hydra or a Rhino while wearing the pack. Exit the pack first, then use Triangle on the vehicle. If you would rather crush cars than clear mountains, spawn a tank with the San Andreas Rhino combo on how to spawn a tank instead of stacking every vehicle cheat in one buffer.
When the cheat is the wrong tool
Use the cheat when you already finished (or abandoned) the story beats that expect you on the ground: driving school, specific chase missions, interior briefings. Flying over a rooftop mission can skip triggers or dump you into a fail state. The mission-friendly tier exists because a jetpack is a blunt instrument.
Use the story pack at Verdant Meadows when you are hunting 100% or when you want a save you can still take seriously. The chaos cheats tier is the other extreme: riot plus jetpack is how files die.
If the combo never stings, run the controls guide and confirm you are not using analog Up for the compass. Then open the San Andreas codes page and enter only this effect, once. One video is enough; do not stack a second embed or a second guess at the shoulders.
The pack is a San Andreas exclusive, a DualShock 2 sequence, and a poor interior companion. Treat it that way and it is the fastest way across Bone County. Treat ROCKETMAN as a password for a console, and you will stand in Los Santos forever.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for DualShock 2 codes, saves, and fake lists.
Does Vice City or GTA III have a jetpack cheat on PS2?
No. The jetpack is San Andreas only. Other discs need flying-car cheats or story aircraft. For a heavy vehicle on those games, use how to spawn a tank.
Should I type ROCKETMAN on a DualShock 2?
No. ROCKETMAN is a PC keyboard word. Original PS2 San Andreas has no cheat text box. Use the button combos on this page and the mapping on PS2 vs PC codes.
Which button combo is the real one?
GTAbase’s twelve-step (Up, Down, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right) and the original ten-step that starts Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2 both produce the pack. Magazine doubles work when the real trail sits in the buffer. Enter one list cleanly in live play.
How do I get the jetpack without cheats?
Complete Black Project at Area 69, then pick it up later at Verdant Meadows. That keeps a story file cleaner than a cheat. See save-file warnings if you still want a sandbox slot for the combo.
How do I get off the jetpack?
Press Triangle to dismount. You cannot enter interiors or save while wearing it. On-foot and vehicle binds are on DualShock 2 controls.
Where is the rest of the San Andreas list?
On the San Andreas codes page, with weapon sets if you want guns before you fly. The cheat finder can search by effect if you forget the name.
